Dr. Rajan Patel is a fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon with a focus on sports medicine. He started towards a career in podiatry by studying at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From there he completed a four-year residency specifically focusing on surgery of the foot and ankle, and all conditions related to the lower extremity, at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY where he was the Chief Resident. Upon finishing his residency, Dr. Patel completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship in Palo Alto, California, where he treated high-level athletes from around the world. Dr. Patel also manages all lower extremity pathologies from ingrown nails, bunions and hammertoes to complex wounds and reconstruction of the foot and ankle. He is currently on the active medical staff at St. Mary's Hospital (Passaic, NJ), Clara Maas Medical Center (Belleville, NJ) and Hackensack University Medical Center. In addition to in-office cases and surgeries / consults as these hospitals, Dr. Patel also sees patients in the Wound Care Center located within St. Mary’s Hospital.
Dr. Patel has published many peer-reviewed articles during his fellowship as well as while practicing at Ridge Foot and Ankle Associates. He is a board-certified surgeon recognized by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Patel also remains heavily involved with the training of podiatric residents at the teaching hospitals where he has covering privileges. Most recently, Dr. Patel was named the Assistant Fellowship Director of the nationally-recognized North Jersey Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Fellowship where he oversees, guides and teaches the fellows each year alongside Dr. Michael Subik and Dr. Ali Saleh.
